Penn thanks WPS for role in securing Larmour Lands, describes initial homestead efforts
Jonnie Penn and Bonny Peter worked to secure the Larmour lands under a profit à prendre agreement with WPS and the ITC. Penn and Peter will establish a farm homestead on a portion of the land, and the rest will be protected under a conservation covenant. In WPS’s Fall 2021 newsletter, Penn describes his love for the land, the couple’s plans, and his appreciation for WPS’s help in facilitating the acquisition.
Larmour Lands purchase deadline looms
The Driftwood’s Gail Sjuberg calls on Salt Springers to meet the fundraising goal that would protect 20 acres of forest around Cusheon Creek. Her article quotes WPS member Rodney Polden: “We are hoping to have a purchase offer by the end of this month and we are hoping to bridge the gap in our funding, which is something like $100,000.”
