WPS releases wildfire risk study and community resources

Thanks to the hard work of two interns, Emily Brown and Lindsay Martin, and collaboration with the Climate Adaptation Research Lab and Transition Salt Spring, we studied wildfire risk in our Coastal Douglas-fir ecosystem. Here you can find:

  • The results of a community survey of wildfire risk concerns on Salt Spring Island

  • A carefully researched guide for reducing wildfire risk on your property

  • A comprehensive collection of resources for wildfire risk reduction and ecological restoration techniques, best practices, and education in coastal Douglas-fir ecosystems
